The church of St. Catherine was originally built in the Gothic style in the first half of the 14th century. It underwent some alterations in 1684 and consequently reconstructed between 1888 – 1889 when the height of the nave was increased and a tower added.
January the 8th 1939 –that was a very significant date for the church in Čerčany. A proposal and plans for construction of an own church in Čerčany – Hus Church were approved at an extraordinary General Meeting. After 13 years of hard work the church was inaugurated and handed over to parsons for use on Sunday, July the 20est. The building was done according to the project of Truksa, an architect from the first republic, a representative of functionalism, this building was his life work.
